The Pentax Papilio III 6.5 x 21 WR binoculars enable close-up observation of animals in their natural environment as well as exhibits in museums and art galleries. . Thanks to the convergence compensation mechanism developed by Pentax, this latest Papilio series allows the user to observe subjects from a minimum focusing distance of 50 centimetres.
The Papilio binoculars are the first of their kind with a reliable weatherproof construction for use in rain and other places where water splashes may occur. This makes it universal and can be used in many environments in different weather conditions.

In general, observing an object at close range with binoculars leads to a discrepancy in the field of view between the right and left eye. To compensate for this discrepancy, the Papilio III WR features the convergence compensation mechanism developed by Pentax, which shifts the objective lenses according to the focusing distance. This unique mechanism allows the user to observe objects at close range more comfortably without eye fatigue. As the objective lenses return to their original position when observing at long distances, this model is also ideal for normal applications such as bird watching, hiking, concerts and sporting events.

The first model in the Papilio series with weatherproof construction

The Papilio III WR is the first model in the Papilio series with a weatherproof construction that minimizes the penetration of water and moisture into the interior, making it an extremely reliable observation instrument in rain and fog as well as in places where splashing water may occur. The eyepieces and front glass surfaces are coated with a dirt-repellent coating to minimize the adhesion of dust and stains.

High-performance optics

All optical elements of the Papilio III WR are fully multi-coated to ensure optimal imaging performance and to minimize unwanted reflections. The combination of aspherical optical elements and prisms made of high-refractive BaK4 glass ensures a sharp, clear and distortion-free image, even at the edges of the field of view.

Latest HD coating for a further improvement in optical performance

The latest high-performance HD coating* has been applied to some of the optical elements already fully multi-coated
. Compared to conventional multi-coatings, this ensures higher transmission with lower reflection. The result is that the Papilio III WR delivers particularly clear images with higher contrast even under difficult conditions such as backlighting.

Long eye relief

The long eye relief of 15 mm of this model also allows spectacle wearers to observe the entire field of view clearly and comfortably.

Grippy rubber housing

The entire binocular housing is encased in a protective rubber housing to ensure better holding comfort and excellent shock resistance.
