Nikon Nikkor Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S II
The professional telephoto zoom Nikkor Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S II impresses with higher performance, significantly lower weight and improved ergonomics
. At just 998 grams *1, the new Nikkor Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S II is currently the lightest lens in its class *2 and therefore a whole 362 grams lighter and 12 millimeters shorter than its predecessor model.
This noticeable weight saving ensures improved balance, greater agility and more comfort during long handheld assignments - a strong argument for event, sports, reportage and wedding photographers. Videographers also benefit from the internal Zoom mechanism, which keeps the centre of gravity constant when Zooming, making professional gimbal use much easier.
Technically, the new model impresses with the most powerful autofocus system from Nikon to date. The integrated Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor (SSVCM) works up to 3.5 times faster than the first generation and is around 50 percent quieter
. The reduced focus on the Zoomen offers decisive advantages, especially for sports, wildlife and action shots.
The integrated image stabilization with up to 6 f-stops *3 considerably extends the range of applications - even in difficult lighting conditions. In combination with compatible Z cameras, Synchro-VR ensures maximum stability both in the center of the image and in the peripheral areas. Together with the constant speed of 1:2.8, this results in convincing performance for low-light situations and demanding video productions
. The lens has also been completely redesigned optically.
The new design achieves an even higher imaging performance with fewer lens elements. Improved sharpness across the entire image field, a harmonious bokeh and optimized glare protection raise the S-line quality to a new level - with a more compact design at the same time.
Ergonomic details such as the detachable tripod adapter ring, the integrated ARCA-SWISS tripod base, an adjustment ring with click stop and high-quality weather sealing underline the professional standard of this telephoto zoom.
*1 Without tripod adapter ring and protective cover.
*2 As of February 24, 2026, among interchangeable lenses with 70 to 200 mm and an aperture of f2.8 for mirrorless full-frame/FX cameras. Based on research by Nikon.
*3 Conforms to CIPA standards 2024. Correction performance data for tilt, roll and rotation when used on the Z6III (in telephoto, NORMAL mode).
