As the first¹ ultra telephoto zoom lens in the LUMIX S series with a focal length of up to 500mm, this model is compatible with separately available teleconverters² and thus opens up the possibility of realizing ultra telephoto shots with an impressive focal length of up to 1000mm. It delivers excellent resolution and attractive bokeh across the entire Zoom range, making it ideal for a wide range of applications - from nature and motorsport to landscape photography, for both photographers and videographers.
Thanks to the optimized arrangement of the lenses and the use of a Dual Phase Linear Motor, the lens is characterized by a particularly compact design with an overall length of just 196.1 mm, without compromising on the impressive Ultratele performance. The fast, precise and virtually silent autofocus in combination with the Dual IS 2 image stabilization of up to 7.0 f-stops*³ enables exceptional flexibility and allows hand-held shooting - ideal for implementing creative ideas in the field.
The lens also impresses with its intuitive functions: For example, the customizable focus ring can be used as a control ring to directly assign preferred parameters such as aperture or other settings⁴. In addition, a freely assignable focus button allows important functions to be assigned, creating a particularly personalized and responsive shooting experience. To meet the requirements of video production, the lens has also been equipped with features such as a focus rate restriction and micro-step aperture control to ensure smooth exposure changes and professional video quality.
