Voigtländer Septon 40 mm f2 Z-Mount aspherical black
The name SEPTON was originally used for standard lenses developed for the Bessamatic and Ultramatic single lens reflex cameras with central shutter. These lenses were introduced in the late 1950s and 1960s as part of a new photographic platform to replace the classic rangefinder cameras.
SEPTON refers to a lens design whose optical performance was further improved by adding an additional lens element to the six-element design of the ULTRON - which was introduced in 1950 for rangefinder cameras. The SEPTON is still considered one of Voigtländer's legendary lenses today.
The Voigtländer SEPTON 40 mm F2.0 aspherical Z-mount is a pancake-type standard lens whose particularly compact design is ideally suited to mirrorless cameras. Optimized for full-frame sensors with Nikon Z-mount, it achieves a lens speed of F2 while retaining the advantages of the compact orthometar type. This is made possible by the use of an aspherical lens within the six-lens Orthometar design. The Orthometar type is characterized by a short optical length and extremely low distortion
. With a total length of only 32 mm from the bayonet, the lens is extremely easy to transport and ready for use at any time. The 40 mm angle of view, which can also be used as a slight wide angle, makes it an ideal everyday lens.
The close focusing distance of 0.3 m also makes it ideal for table-top and close-up photography. A dome-shaped, screw-in metal lens hood is included in the scope of delivery and preserves the compact appearance of the lens.
The lens has electronic contacts so that lens data is saved in the Exif information of the images taken. In conjunction with a camera body that supports electronic communication and the latest firmware, Exif information, in-camera image stabilization (3-axis) and three types of focus assist are supported:
- Focus assist by changing the color of the focus frame
- Focus assist using the peaking function
- Focus assist using the magnification button
The aperture ring is precisely designed and locks in 1/3 f-stops.
The Voigtländer 40 mm F2.0 SEPTON aspherical Z-mount significantly expands the versatility of modern mirrorless cameras. It combines classic manual operation with contemporary electronic support and enables both ambitious amateur photographers and professional users to achieve impressive image results.
