The purpose of the concave reflector is to brighten portraits from below. It is placed in front of the model with the opening facing up (or slightly tilted) and illuminated from the front above with soft light (reflector sail, softbox, diffuser) in such a way that the light is reflected from below into the subject's face. This reduces or completely prevents the often disturbing shadows under the nose, mouth, chin, cheeks and eye sockets. On top of that, it conjures up a bright reflection of the wide reflector surface in your subject's eyes that looks a bit like a smile.
The reflector is delivered in a handy bag. It can be easily assembled without any additional tools. A clear instruction manual helps to assemble it quickly and safely. The Walimex pro 3in1 Reflector Halfpipe is concave curved, hence the name. For perfect illumination of portraits, it has a size of 150 x 60 cm. 3 functions in one
First, the frame of the halfpipe is covered with the silver reflector fabric. With the additional reversible cover - white on one side and wavy gold on the other - you can change the silver reflector to another color scheme in seconds with Velcro:

• wavy gold: this special coating consists of a zigzag pattern with gold and silver stripes alternating. Together, they reflect the incident light, creating a warm, yet bright illumination for the subject. This color is especially good for skin tones, as it also gives sunlight a warmer tone. The silver component maximizes brightness because of its strong reflectivity.
• white: The classic reflector color for brightening with soft light. The light is not reflected selectively as with silver, but loses intensity as it bounces off the reflector in a spherical pattern. On the other hand, the lighting effect is similar to that of a diffuser.
• silver: Guarantees maximum light output, which can work wonders, especially in bad weather conditions. However, silver is not recommended in bright sun or direct flash.

Tips for using the Reflector Halfpipe
The reflector can be held by an assistant. This allows for quick setup and quick adjustments to the angle. However, it can be used just as well mounted on a stable lamp stand. Especially in a quiet studio atmosphere this is the better solution. The inclination of the reflector can be adjusted over 180 degrees, namely from -90° to +90°. This gives you maximum flexibility for work.
