The RICOH G900SE is an extremely durable compact camera for smooth data management in commercial operations with extensive options for data communication .
The RICOH G900SE features a completely newly developed and particularly robust housing. This makes the camera waterproof to a water depth of 20 m, cold-resistant to -10°C, pressure-resistant to 100 kg, break-resistant from a drop height of up to 2.1 meters and protected against certain chemicals. This predestines the RICOH G900SE for use in workplaces with often extreme environmental conditions, such as heavy rain, dirt and frost.
With a state-of-the-art 20 megapixel CMOS sensor and a powerful image processor, brilliant photos and videos in 4K resolution are created even under such conditions. A 5x Zoom lens from 28 to 140 mm (KB equivalent) is available for an extensive shooting range. Six LED lights arranged around the lens provide sufficient light at short shooting distances. The
RICOH G900SE is about 26% smaller than its predecessor and, thanks to optimized button positioning, fits securely in the hand when the photographer has to concentrate on other things
.At second glance, the camera impresses above all with comprehensive technical features for simplifying workflows in digital data management or for seamless connection to corporate networks, such as the intranet.
With the camera memo functions and the barcode reading function already integrated, specific data can be easily linked to the images. In addition, the GPS module is already permanently integrated in the new G900SE.
Another special feature is the extensive data communication functions. In addition to wireless data transfer via Bluetooth or WLAN, NFC or wired control with direct image transfer via computer program "Image Transfer2" are available. Specific security settings, such as the possible password protection of the camera and certain memory cards, protect against unauthorized access.
Further consideration is given to the topic of data security, for example, with the use of a digitally encrypted certificate that is compatible with WiFi
. Inaddition, the ability to export XML files and improved camera operation that allows camera settings to be changed via computer control
make theRICOH G900SE a reliable recording device and perfect data management tool for professional business applications. This makes the RICOH G900SE particularly suitable for certain applications in construction and transportation, utilities, high-security areas or warehouses, healthcare and hospitals, emergency services, police and fire departments, aid and protection organizations, or even local authorities and administrations
.Wireless data transmission with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or compatible NFC memory cards.
The improved Bluetooth and WLAN functions guarantee fast data transfer to a wide range of devices or the intranet. When used in conjunction with a laser meter, for example, captured data can also be easily attached to images
, while theRICOH G900SE also supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™) for easy setup of a wireless local area network with encryption
.In addition, the camera is also compatible with the NFC standard and password protection can be enabled or disabled by simply holding appropriate NFC cards. The camera memo function can also be used, for example, to link people's names to the data on the NFC card by simply holding a company ID card in front of the camera, if a corresponding user list has been created beforehand
.Password protection functions
With the G900SE, the operation of the camera can be fully or partially restricted for other users. From a list of menu items, certain functions, such as camera or menu access, the internal memory display, the USB port, the use of SD cards or connection to Web Services, can be selected and locked. The camera or corresponding functions can then only be unlocked by entering a password via the camera's on-screen keyboard, barcode scan mode, or with an NFC card, and
2 passwords can be set - one for the user and one for the administrator. For example, the administrator can store a personal password to lock menu access so that camera settings cannot be accidentally changed during shooting. Another password can then be used to enable camera access for specific users only, and
apassword can also be set for each SDHC or SDXC memory card. Even if an SD card is lost or stolen, password protection prevents the data stored on the card from being read out without further ado. In this age of increasingly important protection of corporate information, these are indispensable security features
.Improved camera memo functions and barcode scanning mode for easy data management
The G900SE's camera memo function allows users to attach text (max. 100 items, up to 128 letters per item) or an audio file (max. 30 seconds) previously created on the camera or computer to a captured image. With the camera memo function, it is also possible to search for reference images on the monitor, such as a plan or blueprint. Beforehand, the desired subject can be selected from a list of up to 999 image contents.
In combination with the barcode scan mode, specific barcode information can also be effortlessly added to the memo data. This makes it easy to manage patient image data for medical purposes or product data in merchandise management, for example.
Using the supplied EX2 software, image categorizations and file names can also be transferred to the camera's memo data, which can significantly reduce the amount of work needed to organize the files after shooting. In addition, the export of saved XML data is also possible, which improves the interface to the database connection
.GPS functions for automatic transfer of position data
The G900SE has a built-in GPS module. This allows position data and shooting data to be automatically recorded in parallel with the captured images. This module can be easily activated using the GPS button on the back, with a much shorter power-on time than the previous model (about 1 minute when the camera is off, about 20 seconds in sleep mode, about 3 seconds when the camera is on). By coupling with the SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System), even more accurate position data can be acquired at different locations and times. When shooting indoors, the previously captured position data can be transferred to the then captured images using the GPS Lock function. In addition, an electronic compass can be used to determine position
.Advanced data management functions in conjunction with intranet systems
When multiple cameras are used and connected to the intranet system, they can be automatically and simultaneously updated by, for example, loading firmware updates, camera menu settings and memo lists from an intranet server. An SD card can also be used for this purpose, or the camera's time can be automatically synchronized with that of the server
.Reference image comparison function
TheG900SE has a "watermark" comparison function that allows a previously captured image to be displayed on the LCD monitor and used as a template for an identical retake of a new image. The transparency level of the template image can be selected between 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%. It is also possible to display the two images side by side on the screen for immediate comparison. However, this mode can also be used to always capture images from the same perspective and record the changes over time. This can be particularly useful for documenting development stages in a wide variety of applications, such as assessing work progress on construction sites or growth cycles
