The 18-200mm Di II follows in the tradition of the legendary Tamron Megazoom lenses and has an 11.1x Zoom equivalent focal length range of 28-300mm on analog 35mm cameras. It belongs to the new Tamron Di II generation of lenses designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras with small image sensors.

Thanks to its huge focal length range, the 18-200 mm is suitable as a standard lens for practically all photographic occasions. Especially when traveling, the ultra-compact and lightweight design ensures unclouded photographic fun. The new high-performance AF 18-200mm Di II lens employs an all-new optical design that uses XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass in an innovative way to optimize the distribution of optical power throughout the focal length range.

This design reduces various aberrations to the absolute minimum while allowing for a much more compact design. In addition, three hybrid aspherical elements and two LD (low dispersion) elements are used to compensate for chromatic aberration on the axis and at the edges of the image. This factor is particularly important for high quality in digital photography. The result is a versatile Zoomlens with outstanding optical quality. It also achieves a magnification of 1:3.7, making it suitable for macro shooting. The closest focusing distance is 45cm.
