With extremely fast and accurate contrast autofocus with less than 0.1 second shutter lag and continuous shooting at a maximum of 6 fps, you'll always capture the perfect moment! At the same time, the Silent Shutter function makes it possible to release the shutter silently, for example to photograph animals in the wild undisturbed.
The LUMIX G5 offers impressive photographic scope even in low light and at higher ISO values thanks to the 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor and the Venus Engine image processor. The electronic Live View viewfinder with 1,440,000 pixels and an unusually convenient magnification of effectively 0.7x shows all the important details, right down to color and white balance, in real time.
It can be used in automatic alternation via eye sensor with the proven rotating and swiveling 7.5 cm LCD display with touchscreen operation.
In terms of creative modes, the G5 now offers a choice of 14 pre-programmed digital effects. A scene guide helps as an alternative to the customizable iA mode with automatic scene program selection.

The LUMIX G5 exhibits compelling image quality with detailed, lifelike reproduction thanks to high resolution and finely differentiated colors. The image sensor and processor deliver a balance of resolution and noise reduction. Precise exposure and white balance control ensures natural colors.
Fast and precise autofocus
Focus with precision: All cameras in the LUMIX G family use a contrast autofocus system on the sensor for automatic focusing. In principle, this AF system is more accurate than the phase detection systems of conventional SLR cameras, even at large apertures.
Faster focusing: Thanks to the fast response time of the sensor and image processor, the LUMIX G5 offers a fast focusing time of just 0.1 seconds.
Large high-resolution LiveView viewfinder with 1.44 MP resolution.
The 100% LiveView viewfinder displays a sharp, bright image, even when panning and with moving subjects, thanks to 1.44 million equivalent pixels and a refresh rate of 60 fps. The high viewfinder magnification of effectively 0.7x, usually found on professional SLR cameras, provides a comfortable overview. With its dioptric correction of +/-4, the eyepiece can be individually adjusted. A new eye sensor can automatically switch between viewfinder and monitor images. The eye sensor also ensures that autofocus is activated directly when looking into the viewfinder, so the LUMIX G5 is ready to fire even faster.
Freely rotatable and tiltable 7.5cm touch LCD
The G5's 7.5cm (3Ê) touch-sensitive LCD monitor offers 920,000 RGB pixels and a fast frame rate for significantly improved viewing of fast-moving subjects. The LCD monitor can be flipped out 180° sideways and rotated 270° around its horizontal axis. The LCD monitor's 100% field of view display and variable displays ensure reliable image control. A maximum magnification of 16x is possible for detailed viewing.
