Excellent image quality thanks to 16-megapixel Live MOS sensor
Panasonic has developed a Digital Live MOS sensor with 16-megapixel resolution from scratch for the LUMIX GX7. It combines practical resolving power with high sensitivity and minimal noise. Together, the Digital Live MOS sensor and Venus Engine image processor enable impressive low-light and high ISO shooting (up to a maximum of ISO 25,600).
Superior autofocus performance and response speed.
All LUMIX G cameras use a sensor-contrast AF system to determine optimal focus. This ensures greater accuracy of distance setting compared to phase detection systems. This is especially true when shooting with fast lenses, at wide apertures. The GX7's lightning-fast contrast autofocus is also capable of handling fast-moving subjects. It outperforms even high-end DSLRs with phase detection systems in accuracy and speed. This enables high-speed 4.3 fps bursts at full 16-megapixel resolution and AF tracking.
More freedom in perspective selection: foldable Live View viewfinder & touchscreen LC display.
The LUMIX GX7 is equipped with an integrated LVF (Live View Finder) that can be tilted upwards by 90°, with an unusually high resolution of 2,760,000 pixels. The tilting LVF allows viewing from above for unobtrusive shots from the chest perspective. An eye sensor provides automatic switching between viewfinder and monitor images. Additional flexibility is provided by the 7.5 cm static touchscreen LC display (1.04 million pixels), which can be tilted up to 90° up and 45° down.
Optical image stabilizer in camera body
The GX7 is the first LUMIX G with an in-body optical image stabilizer. It protects against blurred images when shooting with lenses that don't have their own image stabilizer, just as reliably as the lenses with image stabilization. This works not only with Micro-FourThirds lenses without image stabilization, but also with third-party lenses, regardless of whether they have a Micro-FourThirds bayonet or are used via adapters.
Full HD video at 50p and responsive autofocus.
The LUMIX GX7 films full HD videos at 1920 x 1080 pixels and 50p in AVCHD progressive mode (MPEG-4 / H.264). It also supports cinema-style shooting at 1080/24p in AVCHD format. In addition, videographers can customize settings as needed in P / A / S / M modes. Good stereo sound to the GX7 videos is provided by the Dolby Digital sound recording. A windshield filter suppresses annoying background noise.
Focus peaking - sharp with certainty
The LUMIX GX7 also offers a useful further development with regard to manual focusing. In order to find the optimal focus point, especially in low light, the focus peaking function supports the focusing. Here, the edges of the image are highlighted in color (blue) on the display exactly in the plane where the sharpness, i.e. the focus, lies. This allows a safe control of the manual adjustment.
