Blackmagic Micro Converter BiDirect without power supply SDI to HDMI 3G

Get the world's smallest bidirectional converter for broadcast quality! Use it to convert SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI simultaneously, even in different formats. It also supports conversion of Camera Control Protocol signals, so you can use Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras with professional SDI live production mixers.

The new Blackmagic Micro Converter 3G models are incredibly tiny broadcast video converters that let you connect consumer HDMI and professional SDI equipment. Their robust, miniaturized design makes them small enough to be used anywhere. You'll benefit from professional 3G-SDI connections to work with all SD and HD formats up to 1080p/60. The Micro Converters are USB-powered and can be powered directly from TVs, laptops or computers. Only Blackmagic Micro Converters feature custom electronics that meet current international broadcast specifications and can also be adapted for future new standards.

This model is perfect for connecting HDMI cameras and computers to professional SDI equipment. You get two 3G-SDI outputs that are adjustable for Level A or Level B formats. Unlike cheap converters, this model supports feature film video formats including 1080p/24, 1080p/47.95 and 1080p/48.

Go anywhere - pocket-sized broadcast converter

Blackmagic Micro Converters are so small that they can be used anywhere. So it's easy to always have one on hand for urgent conversion tasks. Because of their exceptionally high quality, you can rely on these converters for many purposes in broadcast, live production and on set. The converters can be used to turn any computer monitor, TV, or video projector into a color-calibrated device for high-quality broadcast monitoring. They are also ideal for converting HDMI output from consumer computers and video cameras into SDI signals for high-end equipment. In a live production, for example, this would allow a slideshow from a computer to be used for titles in sophisticated broadcast quality. To bridge HDMI signals over long distances, you could use SDI signals yourself.

Miniaturized design -Precision-engineered broadcast-quality converters.

Unlike other small SDI converters, the Blackmagic Micro Converters' enormously durable metal housings contain the highest-quality broadcast-grade technology in miniature. All converters are equipped with industry-standard 3G-SDI and HDMI connectors and rugged, high-quality connectors. The Blackmagic Micro Converters' USB port allows you to power them and change settings using Converter Utility software for Mac and Windows. So you can even charge the converters directly from TVs or laptops. There are even LEDs to indicate power and video status.

Broadcast quality - huge quality in a dwarf format

With the highest quality signal processing and a video pipeline with great bit depth, Blackmagic Micro Converters are superior to cheap converters. With precision-engineered electronics for the lowest SDI jitter, Micro Converters are ideal for bridging longer distances with SDI cables. This is essential for live productions where equipment such as cameras and mixers are far apart. Blackmagic Micro Converters handle both 8- and 10-bit video formats in RGB or YUV, as well as all SD and HD formats up to 1080p/60. Even 1080p/24, 1080p/47.95 and 1080p/48 film rates are supported. In addition, there is support for full audio embedding and timecodes.

Easily update or change settings

To help you change settings and update the converter software, a free converter utility is available for download from the Blackmagic Design website. The software runs on Mac and Windows computers and connects via the Micro Converter's USB port. Using the utility, you can change the converter name. This is especially handy for determining which converter does which job. The 3G-SDI video output can also be switched between Level A and Level B.

Conversion-assisted camera control

Since the new Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G model even supports camera control, you can use it with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera in conjunction with an ATEM series SDI mixer. The mixer converts the camera control signals transmitted by ATEM mixers via SDI into HDMI signals for the camera. Simply connect the SDI signal to the mixer input via the converter output, the mixer program output to the converter input, and the HDMI input of the converter to the Pocket Cinema camera. Now, if you specify a camera number via the converter utility, you have full control over the in-camera color corrector, tally, and even remote recording. It works the same way in reverse.

With support for HDMI timecode

The new Micro Converter 3G models come in a new design with custom Blackmagic Design hardware. With the enhancements, they offer better support for the technical features that are crucial for high-end broadcast workflows. Among other things, timecode conversion via HDMI and SDI is supported. You also get full timecode support for standard definition and high definition video formats. This means you can convert signals from virtually any timecode-capable HDMI device to SDI, and also incorporate timecode into larger broadcast systems. Although Blackmagic Micro Converters are inexpensive, they come up trumps with advanced features necessary for working on top-end movies, television shows, and post-production.

SDI Reclocking - Ideal for longer SDI cable runs

Blackmagic Micro Converters feature internal SDI reclocking on the 3G SDI output. SDI reclocking regenerates SDI video, reduces SDI jitter and optimizes the SDI eye diagram before the converter transmits the signal to other devices. This allows for longer cable runs because even SDI signals with reduced power are usable. Since third-party converters often skimp on important features like reclocking, they lack reliability for broadcasting. Blackmagic Micro Converters, on the other hand, are free of these shortcomings because they are available in a more technically mature design. Also, Blackmagic Micro Converters offer full support for the SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 425M Level A and B broadcast standards.
