The NUANCES GND filter of Cokin is used when you want to darken image areas that are too bright.
Cokin NUANCES GND filters (Graduated Neutral Density) are made of high-quality B270® Schott glass. The transmission properties here are particularly high and impress with low reflection. During development, special emphasis was placed on ensuring that the coating is precisely matched to the gray gradation.
The surface has been fire-polished and is therefore of high chemical and thermal resistance. All this combines the COKIN NUANCES gray graduated filters to a quality product of impressive neutrality. This is especially evident when using multiple graduated filters at the same time, resulting in solid darkening of the desired areas without color shifts.
Cokin NUANCES GND filters are used when you want to specifically darken an image area that is too bright. In practice, NUANCES GND filters darken bright areas such as the sky - in landscape photography - and in this way bring contrast and structure to the clouds. The darker areas, depending on the placement of the filter, remain unaffected by the effect and can thus be properly exposed with all details.
