As we all know, the most sensitive part of filters are their coatings. Daily use and wiping when cleaning the filter will wear away the coating, so it won't last forever. The filter protects against potential physical damage - but the coating should also have exceptional strength to prevent wear during routine maintenance. When the coating loses its effectiveness, image quality suffers.
