The RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM impresses across the board. From its fast f/5.6 aperture and image stabilization1 for up to 4.5 stops of exposure to its Fluorite, UD and Super UD lenses with advanced coatings, the lens sets new standards in optical excellence.
This lightest and shortest 800mm L-series lens to date from Canon was made possible by advanced optical design. Optimized weight distribution ensures good handling, and precise AF can be manually adjusted at any time.
The L-series design focuses on ease of use. The lightweight magnesium alloy body and heat-insulating exterior paint protect the optics inside, while a fluorine coating repels dust and splash water from the front and rear lenses.
The RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM is at the top of the Canon lens range. The aperture can be adjusted in 1/8th stops, the closest focusing distance of only about 2.6m provides shooting flexibility, and the optical image stabilizer works with the in-camera IS to provide even more stabilization.
The RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM features a variety of custom options with two focus presets and a configurable AF stop button. The lens is fully compatible with RF extenders, and for those so inclined, the focus direction can also be reversed.
