The impressive LAOWA 15mm FE Zero-D lens for Sony E convinces with a first-class speed and thanks to the large aperture it is possible to develop excellent images.
The Laowa 15mm f/2.0 FE Zero-D is one of the fastest and most distortion-free super wide-angle lenses on the market for the Sony Full-frame E-mount cameras. It is a high-speed lens for both 35mm full-frame and APS-C sensors. The optical design of the lightweight and compact lens consists of 12 elements in 9 groups, including 2 aspherical elements and 3 extra-low dispersion elements.
The patented optical design successfully minimizes distortion as well as chromatic aberration while delivering excellent optical performance right into the corners of the image. The ultra-wide and fast lenses on the market are typically very large and usually have a dome-like front lens. This is especially problematic for landscape photographers who use filters very often.
Venus Optics has also addressed their needs and managed to develop the lens with a flat front lens that allows a 72mm filter thread. This means that normal 72mm screw-in filters can be used. In addition, thanks to the very short closest focusing distance of 15cm, this lens also offers the possibility of sharply imaging objects in the vicinity. Thanks to the large aperture f/2.0, excellent astrophotos as well as wide-angle shots with beautiful bokeh are possible.
