Super telephoto zoom lens with a focal length of 1600 mm in combination with the optional 2x teleconverter

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS has a focal length equivalent to a 200-800mm lens in 35mm format. With the M.Zuiko Digital 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14 (optional), this can be extended to up to 1,120 mm* and even doubled to 1,600 mm* with the 2x Teleconverter MC-20 (optional). This means that even distant or hard-to-reach subjects, such as shy birds, can be zoomed in close and impressive images can be achieved that are unique for such a super-telephoto lens. The close focusing distance over the entire Zoom range is 1.3 m and the maximum image magnification is 0.57x, which enables excellent telephoto macro performance when shooting small subjects such as insects and flowers. Focus stacking is also supported. With this function, several shots are taken in different focus positions and automatically combined to create a photo with a large depth of field

The optical system consists of a combination of four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses to suppress chromatic aberration, two Super HR (Super High Refractive Index) lenses and two HR (High Refractive Index) lenses for bright, clear imaging performance right to the edges of the image over the entire Zoom range. The ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating reduces ghosting and flare even in poor conditions such as backlighting. Focus limiter and image stabilization in the lens

The internal focusing of the M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS enables fast, high-precision AF thanks to the lightweight focusing lenses. This lens is also equipped with a focus switch for fast switching between MF and AF as well as a focus limiter. The latter allows the AF working range to be selected from three levels and thus easily modified depending on the distance to the subject.
