Thanks to the universal focal length range of approx. 90 - 380 mm (KB) and a constant input speed of F 4.0, the smc DA 60 - 250 mm is excellently suited for many areas of application, such as portrait, sports or landscape photography. The other high-quality equipment details, such as seals against dust and moisture or an internal focusing system, underline the suitability even for demanding outdoor applications. Focusing is performed by a fast and quiet ultrasonic motor. The lens is also compatible with cameras without SDM technology.

Für die APS-C Pentax-Kameras ist das 60-250er der Allrounder und das Gegenstück zum 16-50mm Objektiv welches den Weitwinkelbereich abdeckt. Beide Objektive sind mit Dichtungen ordentlich vor Staub und Nässe geschützt und damit für unser wechselhaftes Wetter in Deutschland bestens geeignet. Was natürlich nicht heißt dass man mit dem Objektiv nicht auch auf Weltreisen gehen kann. Der Autofokusantrieb ist leise aber nicht sonderlich schnell, jedoch für die meisten Anwendungen ausreichend. Die mitgelieferte Stativschelle ist bei dem Brennweitenbereich schon notwendig und gut durchdacht. Die optische und mechanische Qualität des Objektivs ist sehr gut und man kann schon die Anfangsblende als Arbeitblende einsetzen.
