The Ultra-Tele-Zoom Lens with electromagnetic iris mechanism has a very narrow angle of view.
The ultra-telephoto Zoom lens with optical stabilizer (OS) has many advantages. The OS allows the photographer to shoot stably in almost any situation. The narrow angle of view of a telescope allows the perspective to be dramatically compressed and the background to be flexible. This allows the photographer to create the impression of a subject popping out of the frame, with the focused area impressively sharp and clear.
Ultra-telephoto lenses have had some typical drawbacks, however. As the suggestion of "telephoto giant" indicates, they tended to be large and heavy. It was therefore cumbersome to carry them. With the goal of creating an ultra-telephoto lens that is much more practical, we incorporated our latest technologies into the SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary.
With its outstanding combination of optical performance andcompactness, this is an ultra-telephoto lens that is wonderful to carry and use. While retaining the robust functionality and exceptional image quality of an ultra-tele Zoom lens have been retained, we have created an amazingly compact body for a 400mm optic.
The SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary offers the compact size, light weight and price/performance ratio of a 70-300mm lens, yet delivers the performance of a 400mm telephoto lens. This approach thus opens up an enticing new choice in ultra-telephoto lenses for photographers. With a combination of stunning image quality and superior functionality, the lens meets the needs of professionals and amateurs alike.
Since its release, the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary has won over photographers with its strong fundamental performance and exceptional image quality. The SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary retains that performance in a compact 400mm ultra-telephoto Zoom lens, with a filter diameter of just 67mm and a weight of just 1,160g.
However, it also brings the full range of features and functions expected of an ultra-tele-Zoom: optical stabilizer (OS), Hyper-Sonic Motor (HSM) with updated algorithm for fast autofocus, focus range limiter, and more. What's more, these uncompromising features are customizable to personal preferences with the optional SIGMA USB Dock.
Compact body without compromising image quality
In developing this lens, we wanted to push the envelope when it came to compactness and image quality. Four SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and optimized power distribution help reduce optical aberrations to a minimum. Even more, by taking special care in minimizing lateral chromatic aberration, which cannot be corrected via aperture control, we ensure excellent image quality over the entire Zoom range.
Additional shift Zoom functionality
For quick control of the image angle, the Zoom ring has sliding Zoom functionality in addition to the common rotating mechanism. The exclusive lens hood is also designed to support Zooming via the sliding Zoom mechanism and the overall mobility of the lens. By allowing the angle of view to be adjusted instantly, this lens gives the photographer an even better chance of being able to take that decisive photo.
Telephoto and macro functionality
With a minimum shooting distance of 160 cm and a maximum magnification of 1:3.8, this lens can be used to shoot from a distance or at close range.
Dust and splash-proof mount
Since the mount of the lens is particularly susceptible to dust and other foreign objects, the rubber seal ensures that you can be unconcerned.
New optical stabilizer (OS) with special algorithm
With a newly developed gyroscopic sensor and a new special algorithm, this OS delivers reliable stabilization. An accelerometer sensor detects camera movements in any direction - horizontal, vertical and diagonal. This technology enables the OS to stabilize the image very effectively, regardless of whether the camera is held in portrait or landscape orientation.
Other impressive features
SIGMA USB-DPCK
With this USB dock, the new SIGMA lenses of the Contemporary, Art and Sports product series can be adapted to the personal needs of each photographer. For this purpose, we have developed a special software (SIGMA Optimization Pro) that allows you to easily update the lens firmware and adjust focus parameters, for example.
Own A1 MTF measuring system
We have our own A1 MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) measurement system that uses the 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensor. Using this system, we inspect every lens in our new product line at our factory. Even previously undetectable high-frequency details have now become testable as part of our quality control process, which allows us to deliver consistently high lens performance.
Made in Japan
We are focused on optimizing quality with our integrated production system, using our own hands and techniques. We are one of the few manufacturers whose products are exclusively "Made in Japan". We are proud of the authentic quality of SIGMA products as the result of a combination of highly specialized expertise and intelligent modern technology.
