Unsurpassed image quality from the center of the frame to the corners

The optical construction, consisting of 14 elements in 10 groups, including four LD (Low Dispersion) and three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements.

This combination eliminates both chromatic aberrations, which are particularly common with fast lenses, and reduces other optical aberrations to the absolute minimum. Due to this correction, excellent resolving power with differentiated point sources from the center of the image to the corners is already achieved at open aperture F/1.4.

The result is an overall very high imaging quality, the advantages of which are also evident in the blurred image areas (bokeh). This lens produces exceptionally beautiful photographs, with the main subject appearing almost three-dimensional against a background resolved in attractive blur.

New BBAR-G2 coating

To take full advantage of the great resolving power and high image quality of the optical design, the lenses of the SP35mm F/1.4 Di USD feature a high-quality coating that minimizes flare and reflections. The development of the BBAR-G2 coating is the result of Tamron's many years of research in this area. The new technology significantly extends the effect of the first highly praised BBAR coating(Broad-Band Anti-Reflection). In addition to reducing ghosting and aperture spotting, BBAR-G2 coating also provides unprecedented brilliance and unsurpassed contrast rendition.

Exceptionally fast and precise autofocus

Autofocus is based on an ultrasonic motor (USD,Ultrasonic Silent Drive) developed by Tamron. This technology enables an exceptionally fast, precise and quiet focusing system even with fast lenses whose lens elements are comparatively heavy. The SP35mm F/1.4 Di USD is also the first lens to feature the new Dynamic Rolling Cam mechanism, which reduces the drive load on the focus group. This advanced technology provides very smooth focusing and improves the reliability of the system during demanding shooting in extreme conditions, such as very high or low temperatures. The lens also offers users the ability to manually adjust the focal plane at any time, even in AF mode.

Protective next-generation fluorine coating

The outer surface of the front lens is coated with a high-tech coating based on a newly developed fluorine compound with water- and oil-repellent properties. It is characterized by high durability and special resistance. The lens surface is easier to wipe and less susceptible to damage.

Splash-proof housing

The bayonet ring and other critical components are weather-sealed to prevent moisture ingress. This feature also makes the lens ideal for outdoor use in changeable weather.

Compatible with TAMRON TAP-in console(optional)

The SP35mm F/1.4 Di USD is compatible with the Tamron TAP-in console (TAP-01), sold separately. When connected to a computer via a USB cable, the corresponding software can be used to update firmware and customize autofocus and VC image stabilization.

Lockable lens hood

The supplied lens hood has a locking mechanism that prevents it from accidentally slipping or falling off.
