Gaussian optics and two lenses of highly refractive glass grant crisp, clear images even at full f/1.4 aperture in virtually all areas of photography. The lens is ideal for landscape and travel photography, as well as portraits and reportage.
An ultrasonic motor provides very fast and extremely quiet focusing. Thanks to excellent holding torque, inaccuracies are avoided. In addition, manual focusing is possible at any time without switching. This means that the focus can be adjusted without having to switch off the AF function.
The virtually circular aperture gives the out-of-focus area a softer, more uniform appearance. The selective use of background blur emphasizes the subject in the foreground.
Super Spectra coating provides excellent color balance and enhanced contrast. It also minimizes aperture reflections and flare - a common problem caused by light reflecting off the camera's sensor.
