Camera&Sensor Care

Clean the camera like the pros

When a lens is changed on the camera, dust can get into the camera. If this accumulates on the surface of the sensor, the image quality suffers. Dark spots can then be seen on the pictures. This is annoying and must be prevented. Most cameras come with special cleaning systems. By vibrating a filter, these dust particles are shaken off. However, this is of little use with coarse dirt. Instead, there are other aids to clean the sensor from contamination. However, you must make sure that the camera and sensor are cleaned in a clean, windless and preferably dust-free environment.

Small brush with big effect

There are special device brushes for this in the trade. These are electrically charged brushes that rotate. The disadvantage is that if the brush comes into contact with dust, it sticks to it. However, the fine dust is picked up well. But only the loose dust grains are picked up. You can also clean these appliance brushes yourself, but this is only recommended to a limited extent. There is a risk that you will apply more dirt to the sensor than you remove. Be careful never to touch the brush with your fingers, as grease can be transferred. Subsequent use can transfer smudges to the camera.

Removal of coarse dirt

A camera is often exposed to harsh conditions. Constantly, these devices have to brave wind and weather. This can result in considerable dirt. This, of course, has to be removed. This can be removed wonderfully with a bellows. It is an ideal tool for removing coarse dirt. You can clean your camera easily and without any problems. When buying, please make sure that the bellows has a dust filter valve. This prevents dust from escaping during the cleaning process. Many models have small dimensions and can therefore be stored easily. It is also important that a sufficient amount of air is moved. Please make sure that the bellows are not too weak. It can happen that small dirt particles are blown onto the camera or sensor. Then there will be no cleaning effect.

Keeping your photo equipment clean for a long time

A camera must always be kept clean. This guarantees great shots and a long life. A camera's enemies are dust and water. There is no way to prevent them from getting in. Cleaning can be done with compressed air spray. The plus point here is that enormous force is developed. When cleaning, you must take care that this pressure is not too high. Otherwise the camera may suffer. Before you use this compressed air spray, be sure to test it. You can do this with the help of a mirror, for example. Then apply short blasts to the lens, but at a distance of three to five centimetres. The spray should be held vertically. However, this can vary between manufacturers. Be sure to read the operating instructions beforehand. One disadvantage of this compressed air spray is that it must not be taken into the aircraft. So the use of this compressed air spray is only possible to a limited extent.

Clean the camera yourself?

If you do not dare to clean your camera yourself, you should visit a specialist shop. If you do want to try, there are several ways to do it, but don't worry! The sensor cleaning kit can be used for this purpose. This product removes all impurities. As a rule, you can carry out up to twelve cleanings. Here, a good cleaning of the camera and accessories takes place. This is done in a few minutes. Camera and sensor care is important and you can do this on your own. But be sure to follow the manufacturer's operating instructions!
