The Pentax SD 7x42 ED impresses with an excellent light intensity, ED glass elements and large diameter objective lenses for a bright and clear view .
The Pentax SD 7x42 ED features large 42-millimeter-diameter objective lenses in a reliable, waterproof housing and delivers a sharp, high-contrast image even in low-light conditions, such as twilight. It also features - for the first time in S-series models - optical ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements to effectively compensate for chromatic aberration to ensure a clear view of the image field, and is comparable to upper-range models.
Bright, clear view
Like PENTAX's top-of-the-line Z-series models, this premium model delivers sharp, high-contrast images with minimal glare and ghosting, thanks to the use of full multi-coating on all lens surfaces and special coating to optimize light transmission. The large 42-millimeter-diameter objective lenses provide a bright, clear view even in low-light conditions, such as twilight. The PENTAX SD 7x42 ED has a large exit pupil of six millimeters, making it ideal for astronomical observations as well.
Optical ED elements
The first model in the PENTAX S series, these binoculars feature optical ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements for effective compensation of chromatic aberration. As a result, it provides a sharp and high-contrast image of the object.
Reliable waterproof construction for use in harsh conditions
Thanks to the reliable waterproof construction* (complies with JIS Class 6 standard for waterproof constructions that can be submerged to a depth of one meter), this model can be used in almost all weather conditions and is easily rinsed with water. The nitrogen-filled design prevents the inner lens surface from fogging due to sudden temperature changes
*This model cannot be used for underwater observation
