The optical design features 17 elements in 12 groups, including an aspherical lens and two ED elements to minimize optical aberrations.

Despite its wide focal length range and high image quality, the Tele-Zoom lens is surprisingly compact and lightweight, measuring 132.5 mm in length, 75 mm in diameter, and weighing just 580 grams. The Tele-Zoom XF70-300mm F4-5.6 is thus the ideal complement to the standard Zoom XF16-80mm F4 R OIS WR. Compatible with 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters
