The WG-90 delivers sharp, clear, high-resolution images with a high dynamic range and low noise, thanks to the combination of a backlight, CMOS image sensor with approx. 16.0 effective megapixels and excellent light-receiving efficiency. Combined with a powerful image processing engine, this image sensor delivers a top sensitivity of ISO 6400 and super high-resolution images with approx. 16.0 effective megapixels. It also offers advanced image processing capabilities enabled by super-resolution technology to deliver sharper, clearer images with higher resolution. It even offers innovative shooting features such as Handheld Night Snap mode, which automatically creates a single, blur-free composite image from multiple images of the same night scene

5x optical Zoom lens with a wide-angle coverage of 28 mm

The WG-90 in its compact, lightweight body features a 5x optical Zoom lens with a focal length range of 5 mm to 20 mm (equivalent to approx. 28 mm to 140 mm in 35 mm format) to cover a variety of scenes and subjects, from sweeping landscapes to long-distance telephoto shots. In conjunction with the digital zoom function, you can extend the Zoom range by approximately 36 times

LCD monitor suitable for outdoor use

The WG-90's 2.7-inch LCD monitor with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and approximately 230,000 pixels is equipped with the advanced AR (Anti-Reflection) coating to minimize annoying glare and reflections. The Outdoor View setting mode allows you to adjust the brightness of the monitor to suit ambient light conditions - whether shooting outdoors in bright sunlight or at night - to improve the visibility of an image on the screen. The brightness can be increased or decreased in two steps to either side

A variety of shooting modes for all types of scenes and subjects

A choice of 25 scene modes

WG-90 allows you to select the scene mode you want from 25 options, including: Auto Picture, which automatically selects the most appropriate shooting mode for a particular scene or subject to produce a beautiful image; Landscape, which brings the greens of the trees and the blues of the sky vividly to life.and Underwater and Underwater Movie, which reproduce the natural colors of the underwater world by optimizing the white balance to reduce the bluish tint.

Flash Off + Flash On option for two consecutive shots

In underwater mode, this creative option comes in handy when photographing underwater creatures. With a single shutter release, the WG-90 automatically captures two images - one without flash and one with flash - to minimize the time and hassle of camera control and allow you to focus on image composition

A choice of picture tone modes identical to those of Pentax digital SLR models

The WG-90 offers six different picture tone modes to add the desired finishing touches to the pictures you take, depending on the subject or your creative intentions. They include:

• Cross Process, which emulates a unique color scheme associated with a cross-processing film development technique*
• Vibrant, which applies bright, rich and vivid colors
• Slide Film, which produces dynamic, high-contrast images similar to those of reversal film

*Cross development: A film development technique in which the film is treated with an unconventional developer to add characteristic colors to the image.

Interval film for time-compressed film clips

The interval movie mode automatically captures a series of images at a fixed interval and then combines them into a single interval movie (time-lapse movie). You can select the desired interval setting from one, five, 10, 30 or 60 minutes.

The WG-90 also has an Interval Shooting mode to automatically record a series of still images at a desired interval without linking them into a movie clip

Creative, flexible editing of captured images

WG-90's Ink Rubbing filter allows you to save your catches as creative digital images on the fly. By applying this filter to a captured image, you can effortlessly create a unique image that resembles an ink stamp. As the filter effect is adjustable in five levels, you can even create a high-contrast, monochromatic image of your catch. In addition, the WG-90 offers other creative features to edit captured images in unique, creative ways. These include a selection of digital filters and original image frames that can be used to shift color tones, add special visual effects, dramatize images or create different types of atmospheres

Full HD movie recording

The WG-90 offers three movie recording modes:

• Full HD Movie (in 16:9 aspect ratio, with a frame rate of 30 frames per second)
• High Speed Movie for recording slow motion movies
• Underwater Movie, designed exclusively for underwater shooting

In the "Movie" and "Underwater Movie" modes, you can use the "Movie SR" (Shake Reduction) mode to minimize camera shake and blurring of the subject. You can even select a single image from a recorded movie clip and save it as a still image or divide a movie clip into segments. The camera also has an HDMI connection (type D) for easy connection and playback on a TV monitor or other audio-visual device

Other creative tools

The WG-90 has other user-friendly creative tools that make camera operation easier or offer creative functions, including:

• Smile Capture, which automatically triggers the shutter when the camera detects a smiling face
• Self-portrait Assistant, which flashes an LED light

Brightness-adjustable macro light mode

WG-90's macro light mode* allows you to switch on six LED macro lights distributed around the circumference of the lens barrel and use them in five brightness levels as an illumination device in the dark. Since this mode can be used during macro photography, it is convenient when you want to illuminate a small space while precisely adjusting the brightness level
