The second generation Nikon image stabilizer system delivers sharp results even in low ambient light by usability of up to four stops longer exposure times. The Nikon nanocrystal coating effectively reduces ghosting and flare.

The lens body is made largely of magnesium as well as components manufactured from heat-resistant engineering plastic. This makes it particularly durable and well equipped for intensive use. Thanks to the rubber seals around the switch and bayonet, even use in humid or dusty environments is no problem.
