Exceptional imaging performance

The lens features an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical element and two Anomalous Dispersion glass optical elements to minimize the occurrence of chromatic aberrations.
Combined with the high-quality HD (High Definition) coating and FREE (Fixed Rear Element Extension) focusing system, flare and ghosting are effectively reduced over the entire focus range - from the closest distance to infinity - and clear, sharp images are delivered in high quality. Because it offers a longer shooting distance than a 50mm macro lens, it is very effective when shooting inaccessible subjects.

HD coating to improve imaging performance

The lens features the multi-layer HD (High Definition) coating developed by PENTAX. Compared to conventional multi-layer coatings, it improves light transmission
while reducing average reflection in the visible spectrum. This means that the lens delivers clear, sharp images with minimal flare and ghosting, even in difficult lighting conditions such as backlighting.

Rounded aperture for a beautiful bokeh effect

With a rounded aperture from open aperture to F5.6, the lens creates a natural, beautiful bokeh (defocus) effect while minimizing the flare effect from point light sources

High-quality aluminum lens barrel and excellent operability

The lens has an elegant design with a lens barrel carefully crafted from high-quality aluminum. It ensures smooth and comfortable focusing even when shooting with manual focus. The lens hood is made of plastic.

SP coating

The front optical element has been treated with SP (Super Protect) coating to keep the front surface free from dust or stains and improve imaging performance and reliability when shooting outdoors

Quick-Shift Focus System

This innovative focus system allows photographers to instantly switch focus modes from automatic to manual focus: all it takes is a single rotation of the focus ring after the subject has been brought into focus by the camera's autofocus system. This one-time operation eliminates the need for tedious, multi-step focus mode switching when taking quick outdoor shots.
