Sigma 20mm f2 DG DN © L-Mount customer return
Thanks to its outstanding optical performance and first-class build quality, the new SIGMA 20mm F2 DG DN Contemporary ultra-wide angle lens makes photography even more fun.
Developed from scratch, the compact premium ultra-wide angle lens for mirrorless full-frame systems is the latest addition to SIGMA's I-Series, combining the large aperture of F2, the short focal length of 20mm and breathtaking image quality.
With its compact form and low weight, it can become the photographer's constant companion. It is just as ideal for landscape photography as it is for wide-angle portraits, wedding and interior photography. With its well-corrected sagittal coma, it also enables sharp-edged shots of the starry sky. As the fourth lens in the I-Series with a speed of F2, it joins the existing focal lengths of 24, 35 and 65mm, forming a well-graded lens set for users of the L-mount and Sonys E-mount.
Remarkably, the size and weight of the 20mm F2 DG DN Contemporary are almost exactly the same as the very compact SIGMA 24mm F2 from the ISeries, despite the wider angle of view. The elegant all-metal design with the magnetic lens cap characteristic of the I-Series, the aperture ring and the special manufacturing quality make photography a highly satisfying experience - it is even more fun to take pictures with it at
. With its optical and mechanical quality, the SIGMA 20mm F2 DG DN Contemporary represents the essence of the I-Series; owning it and shooting with it is a pure pleasure.
New optical performance standards in the Contemporary product line
The 20mm F2 DG DN Contemporary achieves high imaging performance from the center to the edge even at F2 aperture. Based on the most advanced technology in lens construction, the design incorporates three high-precision bright-molded aspherical elements and one SLD and one FLD lens for correcting aberrations. The result is sharp and high-contrast photos right into the corners of the image. SIGMA's lens developers have also focused their attention on reducing sagittal coma, which can hardly be corrected subsequently in image processing, to achieve precise imaging of very bright points of light.
In addition to the optical design of the lens, a super multi-layer coating or nano-porous coating (NPC) on the lenses ensures minimal flare and ghost images, even when strong light sources shine in the direction of the camera. This makes it easier to photograph subjects in backlit conditions and obtain high-contrast images with the desired "punch".
Outstanding I-Series manufacturing quality in a compact form
All I-Series lenses are all-metal constructions. The precisely manufactured aluminum components not only give the barrel a sleek, elegant finish, but also guarantee outstanding durability, which improves the quality of the entire product. The use of metal in the internal components ensures smooth operation and exceptional robustness. These high-precision components, manufactured with SIGMA's innovative metal processing technology, are also used in SIGMA's cine lenses for professional filmmakers. They ensure that the focus ring moves smoothly and that the aperture clicks smoothly and almost silently, making these lenses a pleasure to use. There is also a choice between non-linear and linear focusing, which the lens with L-mount supports.
The cover between the focus ring and the aperture ring is matt textured in a hairline process, as is the case with the rear barrel of Art series lenses; it provides a secure grip for the fingers when changing lenses.
