Image quality that rivals our lenses from the Art product line

With 16 elements in 13 groups, the optical system features a variety of high-tech and high-end components, including three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements and two bare molded aspherical glass elements. The optical design minimizes optical aberrations and guarantees outstanding resolution even at wide-open aperture and across the entire aperture range. The two aspherical lens elements in particular have ultra-precise surfaces polished to tolerances of less than ten nanometers. This minimizes the so-called onion ring effect in the bokeh, which some aspherical elements produce, and ensures clear image quality across the entire image. In addition, the structure of the optical system gently bends the light to minimize sagittal coma and deliver optimal optical performance from the center to the edges of the image. The result is a soft, round bokeh with even light distribution across the entire shot.

The stepping motor delivers excellent and quiet autofocus

The optical design and stepping motor provide smooth autofocus when shooting video. Face Detection AF keeps the autofocus on the face even when the subject is moving.

Dust and splash-proof construction

The mount has a special seal that makes the lens an excellent choice for shooting in a wide range of conditions.

Specially adapted lens hood to prevent light from entering the lens

The lens hood blocks light that can interfere with photos while minimizing reflections within the lens hood itself. The lens hood also has a rubber coating and an anti-slip groove, making it easy to hold in a wide variety of shooting situations.
