Sigma 35mm f2.0 DG DN © for Sony-E Customer return
Professional performance in a compact package that offers you new creative possibilities.
The SIGMA I-Series is a range of compact, beautifully designed high-performance lenses for mirrorless camera systems. Part of the first collection is the versatile SIGMA 35mm prime lens, which extends the Contemporary product line. It combines outstanding resolving power with a small body that is perfectly weighted for mirrorless systems.
The 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary is one of the classic standard primes that photographers are reluctant to compromise on. The lens has a maximum aperture of F2 and offers both compactness and high optical performance. Its small size and low weight make it extremely handy and therefore a potential everyday companion. Due to its excellent optical quality, its large aperture and its high-quality manufactured body, which stands for the I-Series, it is equally well suited for professional photography, such as astrophotography, and also for video recordings. This brand new standard lens is designed for photographers who value the photographic experience itself as much as the quality of the results.
I-Series|A new photographic experience - "Premium Compact Primes" for mirrorless camera users
The SIGMA I-Series includes full-frame compatible lenses that provide mirrorless users with new and better alternatives - both in terms of the experience of working with the lens and the impressive image results.
Mirrorless cameras have the advantage that they can be kept small and compact. This new 35mm lens is perfectly matched to these compact systems without compromising on performance. The combination of outstanding optical quality and exceptional portability, previously unavailable with DSLR systems, opens up new possibilities for current and future generations of photographers.
New standards of optical performance for the Contemporary product line
The 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary delivers the highest optical performance at an aperture of F2 with a compact lens body that is perfectly designed for mirrorless systems.
The longitudinal chromatic aberration, a point of particular importance in a fast lens, is optimally corrected with SLD glass. Sophisticated placement of lens elements with a high refractive index also ensures effective correction of various types of aberration. The use of three high-precision, blank-molded aspherical glass lenses also contributes to the exceptional performance. These elements correct spherical aberration and field curvature and also suppress reflections and the fluctuation of aberration at the time of focusing. All in all, the amount of glass used has been kept to a minimum.
The lens design also stands for very good correction of sagittal coma, so that details can be captured so finely that it can also be used for astrophotography. Thanks to its state-of-the-art optical design and advanced processing technology, the 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary delivers uniform, high resolution across the entire image area.
Exceptional processing quality of the I-Series in a compact form
All I-Series lenses have a pure metal construction. The precision-cut aluminum parts not only give the barrel a sleek, stylish finish, but also provide excellent durability that enhances the quality of the entire product. Metal materials are also used for the internal construction, which harmonize with the operating rings for added robustness. These high-precision components, manufactured using SIGMA's latest metal processing technology and also used in the Cine lens range for professional filmmakers, offer an exquisite feel and barely perceptible operating noise, making photographers want to use them again and again.
The cover ring between the focus ring and aperture ring is manufactured to fit precisely, as is the case with the manufacture of the rear cylinders of the Art line. This cover provides a good grip when attaching or removing the lens.
Design that minimizes ghosting and reflections
An ideal lens directs the incident light through all the lenses and onto the sensor. If, on the other hand, some of the light is reflected by individual lenses, not only is the light yield reduced; the reflections within the lens create ghost images and flare spots or reduce the contrast. Such effects would be particularly noticeable in backlit shots.
To prevent this, our 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary uses a super multi-layer coating (SML) that reduces stray light and ghost images. The result is clear, sharp and high-contrast images without annoying lens flares.
Compatible with the latest mirrorless full-frame cameras
The 35mm F2 DG DN Contemporary is compatible with full-frame mirrorless cameras with Sony
E-mount

A stepping motor is used for fast focusing. The autofocus with automatic eye detection used in newer mirrorless cameras is also supported, making the precise focusing of portraits, for example, child's play.
