I bought the tripod primarily for a spotting scope.Sturdy tripod with easy-to-use leg extensions and variable center column. Everything works wonderfully smoothly and nothing wobbles. The video head works well for us. Pleasantly smooth to move. Great for panning. Locking and adjusting the movement resistance is great. A spring preload pushes it slightly into the starting position when tilting. This can be irritating, but helps with handling, especially with heavier spotting scopes or camera lenses.
