Thermal printing: environmentally friendly and simple

The environmentally friendly thermal printing process requires no ink or toner. Instead, BPA-free thermal paper is used, which is equipped with a heat-sensitive layer. Targeted heating creates a high-contrast image with a characteristic dot grid that gives the photos a unique retro look.

How does thermal printing work?

1. Thermosensitive paper: First of all, you need the special paper, which contains a chemical layer that reacts to heat.
2. Heat instead of ink: There are small heating elements in the print head of the camera (or printer).
3. These heat certain areas on the paper.
4. Black and white image: The heated areas on the paper turn black, the unheated areas remain white.

The whole process is lightning fast and requires neither ink nor toner. This makes thermal printing clean, simple and environmentally friendly.
