The Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3DiIII VC VXD is a high-quality ultra-telephoto zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras with Sony E-mount. Now available in a set including Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 Di III VXD G2 Sony E-mount lens. Product images show optional accessories and application examples.
The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD (model A067) is the first model in a new class of ultra-telephoto zoom lenses for mirrorless camera systems with full-frame sensors. Its 8x Zoom covers an exceptionally versatile focal length range: from the 50mm standard lens with a relatively wide angle of view and normal depth of field, to the 400mm ultra-telephoto, whose narrow field of view allows for greatly enlarged imaging. The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 is remarkably compact, measuring just 183.4mm in length and weighing only 1,155g, yet it offers unparalleled imaging performance at all focal lengths.
The optical construction of the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 incorporates several special glass elements that ensure high imaging performance throughout the Zoom range. The lens features Tamron's proprietary VXD (Voice-coile Xtreme-torque Drive) autofocus technology, which is based on an exceptionally quiet and fast-acting linear motor. The VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilizer, also developed by Tamron, helps to achieve sharp images in low-light situations. The short close-up distance of the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 allows macro photography at a scale of 1:2 (0.5x magnification). At focal length 50mm, the shortest focusing distance is only 25cm.
The ultra-telephoto zoom lens inspires with high ease of use and a revised body design. The barrel has a scratch-resistant surface and fits comfortably in the hand even during longer shooting sessions. The adjustment elements are optimally placed and can be operated intuitively. Like the other lenses in the Tamron E-series, the 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 has the same filter size (Ø67mm), so filters and protective caps fit all lenses in the series.
The 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 is compatible with the TAMRON Lens Utility, which allows customization of the lens' operation. For the first time, the "FocusLimiter" function is also available here, which can be used to limit the focus range in order to achieve even faster focusing.
For use in conjunction with a tripod, a tripod clamp (Arca-Swiss compatible) is available as an optional accessory.
Tamron is a pioneer in the class of compact fast standard Zoom lenses for mirrorless system cameras, and the new 28-75mm F2.8 G2 is the flagship of the next generation of lenses in this class. The 28-75mm F2.8 G2 is the successor to the 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD (modelA036). The evolution of the popular and globally awarded standardZooms represents Tamrons continued pursuit of the most powerful and user-friendly lens. As compact as its predecessor, the 28-75mm F2.8 G2 features a new optical design with greater resolving power and is compatible with the latest high-resolution system cameras. The Tamron-developed VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) autofocus relies on a linear motor to ensure faster and more precise focusing. With a shortest focusing distance of18cm at 28mm and a maximum magnification of 1:2.7, the lens enables fascinating close-ups. The advanced ergonomic design of the body is focused on optimal handling of the lens.
TAMRON Lens Utility for user-defined functions
The lens is compatible with the new "TAMRON Lens Utility" software, specially developed by Tamron to configure its own lenses. After installing the program on a computer, the 28-75 mm F2.8 G2 can be connected to the computer via a connection cable to customize various functions of the lens or to update the lens firmware. With the help of the personal configuration, the lens can be optimally adapted to the respective shooting situation, for example photo or video.
