Stunningly fast wide-angle Zoom lens for the Micro-FourThirds system.
With the Leica DG Vario-Summilux F1.7 / 10-25mm, Panasonic has developed the world's first consistently fast F1.7 wide-angle Zoom lens for digital mirrorless system cameras.
The Leica DG Vario-Summilux F1.7 / 10-25mm ASPH. fully exploits the potential of the Micro-FourThirds standard by allowing large wide-angle shots despite its high speed, while remaining unusually compact. It has exceptionally high imaging performance throughout the Zoom range of 20-50mm (35mm KB) and is suitable for a wide range of everyday shooting situations - from dynamic landscapes to portraits.
With its consistently high F1.7 luminosity, the Leica lens enables a high degree of crop and effortless low-light shooting, as well as nine aperture blades for gorgeous bokeh.
The lens system consists of 17 elements in 12 groups and features three aspherical lenses and four ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses that effectively suppress axial chromatic aberration and magnification chromatic aberration. The use of aspherical lenses and the optimal design of the lens system result in a compact size and light weight with excellent optical performance.
The new lens is also particularly recommended for video recording. It is compatible with the high-speed precision contrast AF system of the current LUMIX G cameras with data exchange up to a maximum of 240 fps. At the same time, the Leica DG Vario-Summilux F1.7 / 10-25mm ASPH. is equipped with a click-free aperture ring that allows direct, smooth control of the aperture.
The lens also features a "focus clutch" mechanism that allows the focus ring to be set between two positions, once with and once without focus distance information. This allows for quick AF/MF changes and provides intuitive operability. The Leica DG Vario-Summilux F1.7 / 10-25mm ASPH. is also convincing when shooting video because it effectively reduces the effect of focus breathing.
Thanks to its robust, dust- and splash-proof design, the lens can also be used in harsh weather conditions down to -10 degrees.
