The EOS C400 is the first high-end Cinema EOS camera with the high-quality RF bayonet and heralds a groundbreaking new era for Canon products - especially for the EOS R system. Its compact and powerful innovative design concept combines advanced features and specifications normally found in larger cameras. The handy design emphasizes ease of use and operability without compromising on performance. It also offers dedicated interfaces such as genlock, a return input and a 12-pin lens mount for live productions with multi-camera setups.

6K BSI full-frame sensor and triple base ISO

The EOS C400 is equipped with a state-of-the-art 6K BSI full-frame CMOS (backside-illuminated sensor) sensor that offers a dynamic range of 16 stops of exposure. This technology increases the efficiency of light capture and enables faster readout processes, ensuring outstanding image quality.
The camera sets new standards with Canon Triple Base ISO technology, designed for optimum low-light performance and flawless optical results. With base ISO values of 800, 3,200 and 12,800 when shooting in Canon Log 2 or 3, there is more flexibility when shooting in challenging lighting conditions. An automatic switching mode ensures a simplified shooting process.

It evaluates

the ambient light and adjusts the base ISO value accordingly, increasing ease of use.

RF bayonet

The EOS C400 supports Canon RF bayonet technology and can be seamlessly combined with a wide range of RF fixed focal length, Zoom, hybrid, cinema and VR lenses. For even more flexibility without third-party accessories, the camera offers the option of using the various Canon EF-EOS R adapters and the new PL-EOS R adapter. In addition, the camera offers enhanced metadata capabilities and advanced connectivity options that enable real-time frame-to-frame data capture. This improves VFX and virtual production workflows.

With more options in internal recording formats, the format can be adapted to specific needs. Options include the scalable 12-bit Cinema RAW Light LT/ ST/ HQ from Canon, the reliable 4:2:2 10-bit XF-AVC and the new MP4-based formats XF-AVC S and XF-HEVC S, which meet various professional requirements. This enables perfectly coordinated workflows with professional file name and metadata support.
