Fujifilm GFX 100 II body

Fast GFX 102 Megapixel CMOS II HS sensor

The GFX100 II is equipped with the newly developed GFX 102 Megapixel CMOS II HS sensor, which achieves twice as fast signal processing and continuous shooting at up to eight frames per second compared to its predecessor. An extended buffer memory ensures speedy work when shooting series of images in quick succession

.

The new camera captures dynamic subjects at the decisive moment and with impressive image quality. The GFX system is now also suitable for professional use in reportage and sports photography

.

The sensor has a new pixel structure that enables higher saturation and therefore a low standard sensitivity of ISO 80. In contrast to its predecessor, the GFX100 II offers a greater dynamic range and better noise behavior. The sensor's microlenses have been optimized to increase the light yield at the edges of the image. This results in increased imaging performance and more precise automatic focusing in the peripheral areas

.

High-resolution electronic viewfinder

The camera is equipped with an electronic viewfinder with 9.44 million pixels and 1.0x magnification. The viewfinder image is also optimally corrected and free of parallax errors and distortion that typically occur when the eye position changes. A high refresh rate of around 120 frames per second ensures a smooth image impression even with fast movements.

Intelligent autofocus

An advanced AF algorithm not only ensures improved automatic focusing on the face and eyes, but also enables subject recognition autofocus based on deep learning technology. Thanks to the powerful artificial intelligence, the camera can also detect animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, planes, trains, insects and drones.

The detected subject is automatically tracked and kept in focus. The advanced AF algorithm calculates the subject's movements in advance so that the camera reliably keeps dynamic and fast-moving subjects in focus. The photographer can concentrate fully on the moment and the composition of the image. In "Zone" AF mode, the selected focus area can now be adapted to the respective shooting situation to achieve even more precise focusing.

Advanced shooting functions

With the "Pixel Shift Multi-Shot" function, the camera takes 16 high-resolution RAW images in raw data format one after the other, whereby the image sensor is shifted by 0.5 pixels after each exposure. The resulting individual photos can be combined into a single image file with a resolution of up to 400 megapixels using the "Pixel Shift Combiner" software

.

This function is particularly interesting for professional archiving, the digitization of cultural assets and for product and food photography. The GFX100 II offers a total of 20 film simulations, including the new, versatile "REALA ACE" mode for natural color reproduction and high-contrast tonality. The camera also supports the future-proof HEIF image format, which delivers 10-bit image files that are up to 30 percent smaller than standard JPEG files.

Professional video functions

The new sensor allows the internal recording of 4K/60p and 8K/30p videos with true-to-life 10-bit 4:2:2 color reproduction. The new image sensor also shortens the readout speed when recording video, so that disruptive rolling shutter effects can be avoided and even fast motion sequences can be recorded naturally.

Furthermore,

a sensor sensitivity of ISO 100 can now be used for video recording, thus achieving even higher image quality

.

The GFX100 II supports various video codecs, including Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422 and Apple ProRes 422 LT. For workflow optimization, a proxy video with reduced image quality can be saved parallel to ProRes recording. With the new "Video Format" mode, Premista, 35mm and Anamorphic 35mm lenses can be used on the camera. In this mode, the camera automatically adjusts the image section to ensure optimum recording quality

.

Tracking AF is now also available for video recording. The object to be tracked can be selected directly via the touchscreen during recording in "AF-C + Wide/Tracking" mode. The

GFX100 II is the first camera in the GFX series to record videos in F-Log2 mode with a dynamic range of more than 14 EV steps. The video material recorded in this mode offers more creative scope in post-production than the previous F-Log mode. In combination with the compatible external HDMI recorders ATOMOS NINJA V+ and Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G, 12-bit RAW video files can also be recorded. These can be saved as Apple ProRes RAW or Blackmagic RAW in up to 8K with frame rates of up to 29.97 frames per second

.

The camera supports wireless timecode synchronization with ATOMOS AirGlu BT and can therefore be integrated into professional video production systems. The timecode can be synchronized between several compatible cameras. In addition, there are other new video functions such as the waveform display, the vectorscope display, the focus wizard "Focus Map" and the "F-Log2 D area priority" mode.

Wide range of expansion options

The GFX100 II offers numerous interfaces, which ensures a high level of connectivity of the camera to external devices and networks

.

The camera body is equipped with an Ethernet connection as well as HDMI type A and USB-C connections, among other things. An external SSD can be connected via USB-C and used as a storage medium.

Regardless

of the recording mode or format, photos and videos, including 4K/60p and 8K/30p, can be saved directly to the SS

D.

The camera has two card slots for CFexpress type B and SD cards. When using a fast CFexpress type B card, the maximum video performance of the GFX100 II can be utilized. IPTC metadata can be saved directly in the image files when shooting. The metadata can be checked and edited using the new FUJIFILM XApp on a smartphone or tablet.

Integrated Image Stabilizer

The GFX100 II is equipped with an advanced Integrated Image Stabilizer (IBIS). This uses the information supplied by the image sensor to achieve even better stabilization. Up to eight EV stops longer exposure times can be compensated, more than with any other FUJIFILM camera. Even in very low light, for example when shooting at night, sharp images can be achieved freehand. With the IBIS mechanism, which allows the image sensor to be moved with pixel precision, it is also possible to take very detailed multishot shots with a resolution of approx. 400 megapixels.

Advanced operating concept

The

design of the camera body has been revised at several points to further improve the handling of the camera. The camera has a casing made of non-slip BISHAMON-TEX so that it can be held securely in a wide variety of grip positions. The top is tilted slightly backwards to make it easier to read the controls. The sub-display is larger and the graphical user interface is even clearer. The arrangement of the controls has also been optimized.

There

are now three function buttons on the top of the handle, allowing the camera settings to be adjusted more quickly in changing shooting conditions.

Optional accessories

VG-GFX II portrait format battery grip (compatible with GFX100 II)

The portrait format battery grip VG-GFX II holds two high-performance NP-W235 batteries and enables convenient and safe handling of the camera when shooting in portrait format. It is splashproof and dustproof and can be used in temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius

.

Fan FAN-001 (compatible with GFX100 II, X-H2S, X-H2 and X-S20)

The fan cools the camera in hot ambient temperatures to achieve a longer video recording time. It can be attached to the back of the camera body without an additional cable to prevent the camera from shutting down prematurely due to overheating

.

EVF-TL1 viewfinder adapter (compatible with GFX100 II, GFX100 and GFX 50S)

The adapter,

which is positioned between the camera body and the viewfinder, allows the electronic viewfinder to be tilted upwards by up to 90 degrees and up to 45 degrees upwards or downwards when the camera is in portrait format. The adapter allows a variety of camera positions and makes it easier to find creative perspectives
