As the first Zoom under the Leica name, this exceptional telephoto focal length guarantees the high optical and mechanical quality of a top lens.

The Leica DG Vario-ELmar has 20 elements in 13 groups, including one aspherical ED element, two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and one UED (Ultra Extra-low Dispersion) element. Despite the extreme telephoto focal length of 800mm (KB equivalent), the optimized arrangement of the lenses enables a very compact design, while at the same time minimizing distortion and chromatic aberration.
