Panasonic Lumix DC-S5D

Based on the compact design of the LUMIX S5, the redesigned S5D is DJI LiDAR AF capable. When the S5D is paired with the DJI LiDAR Range Finder Module and DJI RS 3 Pro Gimbal, the range finder data is sent to the camera via USB and the camera controls the focus, eliminating the need for a focus motor. This allows for easier handling with a more compact size and greater freedom when working.

Lens calibration is not necessary, saving time during setup. Thanks to the LiDAR's 43,200 high-speed measuring points at a distance of 14 meters, extremely fast autofocus is realized, which is effective even when shooting in low light conditions.

In addition, the LUMIX S5D has all the features already familiar from the LUMIX S5, including a 24.2-megapixel 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor that impresses with a wide dynamic range and high sensitivity, and with Dual Native ISO technology enables crystal-clear videos with a maximum ISO 51200.

Exceptional cinematic movie-making performance

The LUMIX S5D offers outstanding video performance and can record 4K 60p/50p 4:2:0 10-bit and 4K 30p/25p 4:2:2 10-bit internally for up to 30 minutes. It is also capable of 4K 60p/50p 4:2:2 10-bit output via HDMI. There is no time limit for internal 4K 30p/25p 4:2:0 8-bit recording.

In addition to C4K video recording, the LUMIX S5D can output RAW video data to the ATOMOS NINJA V via HDMI at a resolution of 5.9K (5888x3312) 29.97p/25p, 4.1K (4128x2176) 59.94p/50p and Anamorphic 3.5K (3536x2656)/50p. A variety of auxiliary functions for video recording, such as the Vector Scope Display, Master Pedestal Adjustment and SS/Gain Operation (SEC/ISO, ANGLE/ISO, SEC/dB) are also available.

The LUMIX S5D offers a dynamic range of more than 14 stops, virtually the same as Panasonic cinema cameras, to accurately reproduce both dark and bright areas. The ability to capture accurate colors and skin tones is a must for any filmmaker. The LUMIX S5D adopts the renowned color science of Panasonic's VariCam range as well as V-Log / V-Gamut

, and with Slow & Quick mode, impressive slow motion and time-lapse videos are possible in 4K (1-60fps, 30x fast to 2.5x slow) or in FHD (1-180fps, 60x fast to 7.5x slow).

High image quality even in low light conditions with Dual I.S.

The LUMIX S5D impresses with a wide dynamic range and reproduces sharp images with exceptional clarity. Even when shooting at the maximum sensitivity of ISO 51200, image noise is minimized, making it the ideal camera for use in low-light situations.

The LUMIX S5D features Dual Native ISO sensitivity, a technology first introduced in the VariCam range of professional cinema cameras from Panasonic. Normally, image noise increases with increasing sensitivity on a single Native ISO image sensor. However, the Dual Native ISO image sensor in the S5D minimizes noise generation by selecting an optimal circuit depending on sensitivity before gain processing. This makes it possible to shoot at a high sensitivity of up to ISO 51200. Dual Native ISO offers filmmakers a greater variety of artistic possibilities as well as the ability to use less light on set, saving time. The Dual Native ISOs of the LUMIX S5D are 640 and 4000. The LUMIX S5D features Body I.S. (Image Stabilizer) for powerful camera shake correction. It Panasonic has developed an algorithm that precisely calculates the shake information captured not only by the gyro sensor, but also by the image sensor and accelerometer. This enables more accurate detection and compensation of camera shake, allowing the use of a 5 f-stop slower shutter speed (2). By combining the Body I.S. (5-axis) in the camera and the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) in the lens of the LUMIX S series, the 5-axis Dual I.S.2 compensates for blurring and enables the use of a shutter speed that is 6.5 f-stops slower (3). The 5-axis Dual I.S.2 works for both photo and video recording, including 4K. Body I.S. compensates for camera movement even when other L-mount lenses without O.I.S. are used.

Reliable and flexible for optimum creative freedom

The compact LUMIX S5D is characterized by its outstanding mobility, which nevertheless offers exceptional performance. The LUMIX S5D has a die-cast magnesium body and is splash and dust resistant (4). The heat dissipation components are optimally designed to effectively dissipate heat to the outside, resulting in stable, continuous video recording over long periods of time.

The LUMIX S5D has a large LVF (Live View Finder) with a high magnification ratio of approx. 0.74x and a high-precision, high-speed OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display with a high resolution of 2,360K dots. The use of OLED for the LVF ensures a fast response with a minimal delay of less than 0.005 seconds. With an eye relief of approximately 20 mm, it offers high visibility and comfort for eyeglass wearers

. A 3.0-inch LCD with a clear viewing angle in 3:2 aspect ratio and a high resolution of 1,840K dots enables touch control. Composition during shooting in various popular aspect ratios such as 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 4:5, 5:4 and 9:16 can be checked with the frame marker function. A REC frame indicator shows whether the camera is recording or not.

The LUMIX S5D has a dual SD memory card slot - one slot is UHS-I and the other is the fast, high-performance UHS-II (Video Class 90).

The camera's battery can be charged either via AC or USB, depending on the user's preference.

Its optical performance is also extremely high over the entire Zoom range. The consistently thorough reduction of optical aberrations within each lens group ensures outstanding results. Its outstanding close focusing distance also enables close-ups with a reproduction scale of approx. 1:3 in the telephoto range.

With its high speed over the entire focal length range, the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art is a real working lens that can be used for almost any type of photography. Landscape photographers benefit from wide-angle shots with enormous three-dimensionality, while the large Zoom range offers great flexibility in reportage photography. At the same time, the continuous F2.8 aperture ensures faster shutter speeds than an F4 with comparable lenses and therefore provides sufficient scope for working in poor lighting conditions or at dusk. This includes two FLD, one SLD and five aspherical elements, including an element with a diameter of 66.4mm in the first group. Such large elements are very difficult to manufacture. Low susceptibility to flares and ghosting

Flares and ghosting, which affect image quality, have been optimized for all lighting conditions using state-of-the-art simulation technology. In addition, SIGMA uses Nano Porous and Super Multi-Layer lens coatings on this lens to prevent flares and ghosting as far as possible. By using five aspherical elements in the optical design, SIGMA has succeeded in significantly shortening the overall length of the lens without compromising on sharpness and image quality. This advanced design was only possible through continuous technological innovation and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes at SIGMA's sole production facility in Aizu, Japan.

Smarter design means lighter weight

Zoom Lenses with a constant F2.8 aperture can be heavy. By optimizing the design and materials of the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art, SIGMA has achieved a remarkably low weight of less than 1 kg. By using magnesium alloy instead of aluminum for the lens barrel around the lens mount, the weight of these parts alone has been reduced by two-thirds while maintaining rigidity.

Professional features, fast autofocus and excellent workmanship

In addition to the fast autofocus provided by the HLA (High-Response Linear Actuator) linear motor, the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art has a range of features that help to achieve the best possible results in any shooting situation. These include a dust and splash-proof construction and the water and oil-repellent coating of the front lens. A Zoom lock switch, the de-clickable aperture ring, two AFL buttons and the focus ring, which can be operated precisely for MF shots, are further professional features.

An HLA linear motor for fast and precise AF

The lens is equipped with an HLA linear motor (High-response Linear Actuator), which offers a high drive speed as well as responsive, precise and smooth AF. Thanks to its virtually silent operation, it is also suitable for video recordings

. Aperture ring with "de-click function"

Many demanding users appreciate the ability to set the aperture directly on the aperture ring of the lens. The SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art therefore offers an aperture ring. Thanks to its "de-click function", this feature is also interesting for filmmakers, as the aperture can be adjusted smoothly and silently in this position. Those who prefer to set the aperture on the camera body can use the lock function of the aperture ring and are protected against accidental adjustment.

Equipped with two AFL buttons

The lens has two AFL buttons, which have been positioned for optimum accessibility when shooting in portrait and landscape format. These buttons can be assigned individual functions with compatible cameras*

Zoom lock switch

The lens is equipped with a Zoom lock switch, which locks the Zoom mechanism in the wide-angle range and prevents the tube from extending unintentionally due to its own weight. The lock can be released not only via the switch, but also by turning the Zoomring, which enables quick and flexible handling for spontaneous shots.

Protected from external influences

In addition to the dust- and splash-proof housing*, the front lens of the lens has a water- and oil-repellent coating.

The lens is protected against dust and splash water, but is not waterproof.

Including lockable tulip-shaped lens hood

The specially adapted lens hood LH878-07 is included with the SIGMA 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN Art. This is securely locked in place with a quick twist and can be attached to the lens upside down for space-saving storage.
