Stunning resolution and contrast
An optimized Gaussian double lens with two aspherical elements (including a precision AA element) has been combined with an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element to eliminate curvature and distortion. At the same time, resolution and contrast are optimized throughout the image, even at the widest aperture and across all focusing distances.
Versatile applications and beautiful bokeh thanks to an aperture of F1.4
With the maximum aperture of F1.4, images with a shallow depth of field and a soft, beautiful bokeh can be achieved. A fast maximum aperture like this also makes it possible to take pictures with fast shutter speeds in low light conditions. Of course, a smaller aperture can also be set if required to achieve a greater depth of field.
11 blades for a bokeh with natural highlights
Although the circular aperture design of Sony circular aperture design usually uses up to 9 blades, this lens has 11 blades and provides a completely new bokeh quality. Natural-looking highlights in the out-of-focus areas enhance the overall atmosphere and create a gentle impression of depth.
Ring motor autofocus
The SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) system with ring drive enables fast and accurate positioning of the lens' heavy focus group, making the most of high-resolution camera bodies. Fast and accurate focusing is required to fully exploit the potential of a high-resolution camera body when shooting photos and videos.
Convenient fingertip control
The physical aperture ring makes controlling the aperture very intuitive. A switch for the Zoom lock allows you to activate and deactivate the aperture stops on the aperture ring as required. When shooting movies, it is advisable to DISABLE the aperture stops, while tactile feedback is often helpful when taking photos. In addition, there is a focus adjustment switch for easy switching between manual and automatic focusing.
Outstanding color and contrast
ZEISS® lenses are renowned for their excellent color and contrast rendition. The ZEISS® T* coating is of crucial importance here, as it helps to avoid unwanted reflections that can impair image quality. Ghosting and light effects are reduced in favor of strong colors and contrasts that give your images a certain depth and three-dimensionality.
